While I usually only blog about makeup, today I’m taking a little venture into the world of style blogging. In collaboration with ShopStyle by POPSUGAR, I’m sharing a selection of my favorite pieces from my closet. I decided to focus on Winter Neutrals – staple pieces in understated colors that I wear over and over. As I sat down to write about these items, I realized I had a sub-theme going on: versatility. Most of these items can go from day-to-night with ease. I should mention – when it comes to clothes, I’m a complete bargain shopper, so the exact version of many of these items are no longer be available. Most are available either in different colors or slightly different styles, so if you see a piece you love, you’ll still be able to find something similar.
SOLE SOCIETY Natasha Boot
From October-March, I practically live in boots. The Natasha Boot was my first Sole Society purchase and they’ve quickly become my go-to everyday boots. The round toe and 1” heel keep them comfortable and causal, though they can work with certain dressier outfits too.
TEXTILE ELIZABETH AND JAMES Iggy Skinny Jeans
The Iggy Jeans are one of the most comfortable jeans I’ve worn. They have almost a boyfriend jean feel, but with a skinny jean cut – your legs have a little more space than in your typical skinny jean. Mine are in True Blue.
ANTHROPOLOGIE Spliced Pencil Dress
I have to say, Anthropologie sells some gorgeous dresses. The Spliced Pencil Dress features a classic shape with flattering side panels in goes-with-everything neutrals. It’s a dress that’s equally fitting for a party or under a blazer to the office. Best of all? It’s currently on super-sale for nearly 50% off.
JOIE Silk Blouse
Another piece that easily transitions from day to night is this feather-print Joie Silk Blouse. I feel you can’t go too far wrong with this style top – they look chic and put-together and are easy to wear. Express makes similar tops at a more wallet-friendly price point.
DOROTHY PERKINS Blazer Jacket
The pale dove color, the ruched detail on the sleeves, the draped open front… this may just be my favorite blazer. This exact version is no longer available, but there are still a full range of Dorothy Perkins blazers to choose from.
GAP Large Plaid Scarf
I’m a scarf person and had quite a few I considered featuring in this post. I went with the Gap Large Plaid Scarf (I’m assuming the plaid refers to its subtle woven square pattern.) It’s an extra long, lightweight scarf in the softest fabric.
For those who want to text and keep their hands warm, I present you with “glittons.” These may not have graced your wardrobe since elementary school, but hey, they’re even more convenient now that you have a smart phone to operate. I received mine as a gift long ago and they’re from J. Crew, but of course less expensive options would work just as well. These are more about the concept than the specific brand, anyway.
ZOYA Nail Lacquer in Godiva
This is a beauty blog, so of course I had to include some makeup items. Godiva gives a unique spin on your typical nude nail. As part of Zoya’s PixiDust line, it has a matte base with glitter. You can see my full Godiva review here.
RED LIP Senna, Tarte, OCC
What goes better with neturals than a red lip? I wanted to give a few options. For a glossy finish with vibrant yet semi-transluscent pigment, there’s Senna Lip Lacquer in Bonfire. If you’re looking for extreme pigmentation that will last until you remove it, try OCC Lip Tar NSFW (currently available in the Lip Tar All-Star kit). Or, probably my favorite, there’s Tarte Glamazon Lipstick in Fierce, which doesn’t quite reach OCC-level staying power, but provides equally vibrant color with a comfortable gel-like feel.
