5 New Things Beauty Blog Collab WITHOUT TEXT Top 5 New Products I’m Loving | A CF Beauty Blog Collaboration

Last month, I teamed up with Christine at Makeup Guinea Pig and Liza at Makeup Matters to show you our Top 5 Favorite Brushes. This month, we’re keeping the the cruelty-free beauty blog collaboration going. Christine, Liza, and I are each sharing our Top 5 new products. These are products new to our collections, not necessarily the beauty world. I have to say, I’m pretty impressed with my list (thank you, Sephora VIB sale!) My Top 5:

1. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light

2. NARS Blush in Madly

3. Zoya Nail Polish in Sabrina

4. NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in New Lover

5. IT Cosmetics French Boutique Luxe Blush Brush

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ambient Light Top 5 New Products I’m Loving | A CF Beauty Blog Collaboration

1. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light

After months of debating, I finally purchased it. The famous Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. I was first struck by Radiant Light’s stunning color – then by its abundance of shimmer (I was expecting shimmer, but not this much!) Luckily, only a fraction of it transfers onto the skin. Radiant Light adds luminous, soft-focus warmth wherever it’s placed.

2. NARS Blush in Madly

Certainly nothing new to the beauty world, NARS Blush in Madly had been on my wishlist for ages. Finally acquiring it, I am pleased to report it lives up to all expectations. It’s a muted, slightly browned pink with shimmer that just gives the most flattering, natural-looking color to my skin. It happens to go beautifully with Radiant Light. Tinted moisturizer + Radiant Light + Madly =  the ultimate pinky-bronzey “no makeup makeup” complexion.

ZOYA SABRINA NAIL POLISH Top 5 New Products I’m Loving | A CF Beauty Blog Collaboration

Zoya Sabrina

Zoya Sabrina

3. Zoya Nail Polish in Sabrina

Taylor at My Lucite Dreams recently posted about the bright white nails trend. Zoya Sabrina is my sheerer, softer take. Sabrina’s pinky tones keeps it looking crisp, clean, and not the slightest bit yellow – an issue I’ve had with other almost-white polishes. The photo on my nails was taken 4 days after I first applied – the unevenness at the cuticle is totally my lacking application skills, not the polish.

NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil New Lover Top 5 New Products I’m Loving | A CF Beauty Blog Collaboration

4. NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in New Lover

Another NARS product, New Lover has been in my stash for a few months now, but only recently gotten into regular rotation. Like the NARS Satin and Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, the Velvet Gloss Lip Pencils offer effortless application with a smooth, moisturizing feel, but with a glossier, sheerer finish. NARS calls New Lover a “gold infused strawberry pink,” which may be the most enticing color description ever. This shade gives a just-bitten touch of plush color, with fine, lip-enhancing shimmer.

IT Cosmetics French Boutique Luxe Blush Brush Top 5 New Products I’m Loving | A CF Beauty Blog Collaboration

5. IT Cosmetics French Boutique Luxe Blush Brush

I’ve come to expect high quality brushes from IT Cosmetics, and the French Boutique Luxe Blush Brush does not disappoint. The bristles seem similar to those of the much-praised Hourglass Ambient Powder Brush (I don’t own the Hourglass brush so I can’t say for sure). If you’ve ever struggled with blush placement, I recommend this brush. The size and shape fits cheeks perfectly, making application essentially foolproof. It’s also just incredibly soft and feels amazing on the skin.

Love your picks!!! :) I LOVE the NARS New Lover pencil! I have a mini one and it’s great. Really wearable, very comfortable and it has great staying power. Great pick!!! :) I think I’m going to have to try the IT blush brush because of my blush phobia! :) And the polish and blush are both beautiful colors! I don’t tend to go for such subtle nail colors, but Sabrina looks beautiful! I’m still trying to make the Hourglass powder work for me. I bought “Dim Light” originally and it highlights my pores. :( The powder feels incredible though! Thanks for all the suggestions!!!

you can try using a pore refining primer underneath the ambient powder, might help. :)

      • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Good tip, Liza! Maybe try it over your UD Beauty Balm, Christine? I find the BB has pore minimizing properties ♥

      • http://twitter.com/MakeUpGuineaPig Christine

I always use a pore primer underneath and, so far, it hasn’t helped much. I should try it again because it’s such a beautiful powder. I’m so critical of my skin texture because it used to be a LOT smoother and I was used to not seeing any signs of pores. I also tend to evaluate my skin from about 2 inches away from the mirror! :)

Thank you, love! I have only started wearing blush regularly in the past year. I never thought it made a big difference and I just felt it often looked overdone on me. This brush really does make application so easy. I was using the Eco Tools Powder brush from their new set for blush, but this has replaced it. Dim Light is the one I was thinking of going for next actually! I’m surprised I haven’t had issues with Radiant Light accentuating my pores – most illuminating products seem to! I’m a bit addicted to how soft it feels. ♥

      • http://twitter.com/MakeUpGuineaPig Christine

I NEVER used to wear blush either! :) It’s been maybe the last year that I’ve finally started wearing it regularly, and even then, it’s so lightly done that I doubt most people realize it…but that’s kind of the point in my eyes. :) I remember seeing the brush in Liza’s post and thinking it looked amazing. With both of you in agreement, I’m going to have to try it! :)

great choices! I love that IT Cosmetics brush and have actually mentioned it in 2 separate posts because I love it so much! it’s hard to find a good synthetic angled blush brush with a nice flat head like that. I’m also a huge fan of the Hourglass ambient lighting powders. I really want that nail polish!! I love colors like that for Spring.

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Thank you, dear Liza! I saw your posts on the IT Cosmetics brush, totally agree :) I compared it to my other two angled brushes and it’s larger and has more of a kabuki-tapered shape, and the larger surface area makes a huge difference in placing product evenly. I adore it! The polish is beautiful… and so affordable! ♥

  • http://twitter.com/mostlysunnyblog Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Yaaay Radiant Light! I bet it works even better for your skin tone! I think those with fair skin tones might struggle a bit with it, but NC25 up it should be a breeze :)

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

It’s SO pretty, Sunny! But wow, the shimmer is definitely more than I was expecting. I haven’t used a face product with shimmer like this in a while, I forgot what it’s like to look in the mirror and see a stray shimmer particle on your cheek haha. I’m in a really summery, bronzey phase so it hasn’t deterred me, especially because the color and finish are SO stunning. I’ve been loving it as a shadow, too. But I am very careful with where I place it and really tap off the brush before applying. I think I’m going to pick up Dim Light next, I see that working as more of an all-over powder, whereas Radiant Light is definitely a bronzey illuminator-type product, I keep it concentrated on my cheek bones ♥

  • TinaBowling

I am so convinced I need one of the Hourglass powders! Items I can’t live without right now: NARS Orgasm blush, bareMinerals Bronzing Mineral Veil and Secret Radiance, Hard Candy Glossaholic lipgloss, and probably 5 more things I can’t think of!

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Oooh I haven’t seen the bronzing mineral veil or secret radiance, I need to check those out! ♥

  • Lily

I need to try that Hourglass ambient powders! Once I use up my Lunasol face powder that’s already hit pan, I will seriously consider getting one :-)

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

I really want to get Dim Light, I think it would work better for an all-over face powder. Radiant Light is a bit too shimmery, I keep it concentrated on my cheekbones ♥

  • http://twitter.com/BeautyReflectTS BeautyReflections

NARS New Lover is one of my faves for spring and summer! I need to find mine haha! Also, I need to get another Hourglass Powder! Man they are nice!

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

The texture is sooo smooth, I’m pretty close to purchasing Dim Light, too! ♥

  • http://kissandmakeupsbeautyblog.wordpress.com/ Kiss & Make-up

Great picks! That NARS blush looks so pretty.

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

It really is! A lot of natural toned blushes can be a bit ruddy on me but with Madly, not at all ♥

  • http://mybeautysample.com/ Becca @ The Beauty Sample

Dang you totally just reminded me about Nars Madly! I swatched it last time I was at Sephora and fell in love! I had never thought to look at it before for some reason so it flew under my radar. I meant to go back and get it but ahhk, forgot!! :P Loved it and will have to go make a note of it now! :D

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

I think you’d really like it, Becca! It’s one of the easiest blushes for me to wear, along with BECCA Wild Honey. I can see myself actually using it up. I imagine it’d give you a similar soft-natural effect like your BECCA Sweet Pea, though Sweet Pea looks plummier/less brown and also Madly does have some shimmer particles vs the BECCA blushes subtle sheen. ♥

Oh I so want that Hourglass compact! I almost caved in recently but now I want it even more… *sigh* :)

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Ooh I know, I’d been admiring them since before they were even released and finally caved… of course, now I’m itching to pick up Dim Light, too haha ♥

  • http://MyLuciteDreams.com/ MyLuciteDreams

Ooh I love everything here! I need to check out Radiant light, I love diffuse but was itching to pick up a shade that have me a little summer glow. I also loved Nars Madly and I love that Zoya! Thank you sweetie for the link love
    Xx

I’m completely obsessed with Radiant Light now… I saw some noticeable shimmer particles on my skin when wearing it (just one or two, not a big deal, but I prefer shimmer to be finer), but I realized I think it may have actually been from NARS Madly, which I was also wearing. Even though there seems to be a lot of shimmer in Radiant Light in the pan, somehow it doesn’t transfer much to the skin. At first, I was just wearing Radiant Light on my cheeks, but I’ve been using it lightly all over and it’s really, really beautiful that way. It doesn’t darken my skintone at all, just adds such a healthy, slightly bronzed glow. I don’t mind the shimmer in Madly as it’s such a gorgeous color and stays just on my cheeks, where light shimmer looks relatively natural anyway. ♥

Hi Sara, NARS has maintained it’s cruelty-free practices, despite being owned by Shiseido. It’s a personal call, whether or not you want to support companies with animal testing parent companies who remain cruelty-free in their own practices. Thanks for your comment! ♥

lovely selection! I am so curious about the hourglass powders and I fell in love with the nars pencils, I have 2 and both colours are nice.

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

I’ve heard so many raves about the NARS pencils. The newest range looks beautiful. I’m completely loving my Radiant Light powder… I want to pick up Dim Light next :)

I was trying to decide between buying a Les Beiges in 30/40 and “Radiant Light”. I ended up picking of “Radiant Light” mostly for convenience sake (Chanel apparently is in no rush to open a counter in Idaho…). I really love all the Ambient Lighting powders though.
