SLEEK Contour Kit in Medium

Sleek Contour Kit SLEEK Contour Kit in Medium It’s always hard for me to believe that Sleek MakeUP is a high street/drugstore brand. I feel the innovation and quality of their products rivals that many high end, professional lines. That’s certainly true of one of their most popular products, the Face Contour Kit. Sleek Face Contour Kit SLEEK Contour Kit in Medium I have this in Medium. It looked like Light and Medium would both work for me. I liked that the highlighter in Medium had more gold tones, so I went with that. The texture is on the drier side, but not powdery. Yet it’s very pigmented. I adore the super compact, sturdy packaging (so does my already-very-space-consuming collection). Contouring and highlighting is a step I often skip, but whenever I do it, I wonder why I don’t do it every day. It adds such dimension and life to the face. Of course, you need to be careful with application – it’s very easy to overdo. I use a small, tapered brush to pick up the bronzer, then take most of the product off on the back of my hand before applying. I use a clean brush to blend. The bronzer is 100% matte and I don’t find it to go orange-y at all. The highlighter is such a lovely soft gold. The effect it creates on the skin reminds me of candlelight. While it is shimmery, it’s subtle shimmer, and really embedded in the powder. With some highlighters, I can end up with shimmer particles in areas I didn’t apply it. But with this, I’ve had absolutely zero issues with shimmer fall out. It’s also beautiful to highlight the inner corner of the eye. I did attempt to photograph how this looks on my skin, but for whatever reason I cannot master the technique of taking photos of myself. The images come out completely washed out or very grey – either way, completely useless for accurately showing a product. If anyone has any pointers, I’d love to hear them. Until I figure it out, I’ll have to settle for just swatches. Sleek Contour Kit Swatches SLEEK Contour Kit in Medium   Sleek Face Contour Kit Swatches SLEEK Contour Kit in Medium I know finding an affordable, cruelty-free matte bronzer can be difficult. Recently, many of the most popular ones have lost their cruelty-free status. I have quite a few matte bronzers from companies that aren’t cruelty-free. All of these were purchaed before I learned about animal testing or before the company changed its animal testing status. I decided to include them for comparison. I know when I search blogs for dupes or swatches, one of the things I find most helpful is seeing the product compared to a product I own or know the color of.   Please note that these swatches don’t imply the company is cruelty-free. They’re for comparison only.   Bronzers swatched:

  • MAC Matte Blush in Harmony (no longer cruelty-free, sells in China)
  • Bourjois Delice de Poudre (may or may not be cruelty-free)
  • Sleek Contour Kit in Medium
  • Revlon Photoready Bronzer (no longer cruelty-free, sells in China)
  • Benefit Hoola Bronzer (may or may not be cruelty-free, states they are committed to creating their products without animal testing; however, say they choose not to be included in any third party lists, like PETA and Leaping Bunny)
  • Ben Nye Powder Blush in Contour

For swatches of the Light and Dark kits, check out Musical Houses. She has swatches of all three kits. Sleek also has a newer palette out that includes the bronzer, highlighter, and a blush or shimmery bronzer, depending on the shade. The Light version includes Rose Gold blush and is supposedly similar to the famous NARS Trio (which I don’t own, so can’t say). What’s your favorite bronzer and highlighter? Have you tried Sleek?

  • Valeria

You have no idea how happy I am that Sleek is still cruelty free! I am glad to hear this doesn’t turn orange on you, I much too often have that problem. This is going in my next Sleek order. Love your blog!

    • Catherine

Thank you so much, Valeria! To the very best of my knowledge, Sleek is cruelty-free. If I learn anything that indicates otherwise, I’ll update here asap of course. It’s always a bit tricky when a brand you really believe to be cruelty-free isn’t listed by PETA or Leaping Bunny… that third-party confirmation is really valuable. Anyway, thanks again for your lovely comment! ♥

  • Love Happy

This looks like a great contour kit and it’s not too pricey! I love that they have one for dark skin, too :) Thanks for sharing ♥

    • Catherine

You’re welcome, thanks for your comment! I’m glad it comes in multiple shades too. It’s always crazy to me that brands still sometimes don’t release products in a full-range of skin tones ♥

  • Jasmine@themakeupfile

I really want to try Sleek but shipping seems so high!

    • Catherine

      I know I paid about $11, but I heard they’ve lowered shipping costs. ♥

  • Moxie Reviews™

Great swatches! It’s too bad that MAC isn’t cruelty free any more!!

    • Catherine

      Thanks, Moxie! I know, it’s really a shame ♥

  • Joanne P

in the first two swatches, I thought the bronzer was way too dark. But compare to others, it’s wearable. Good to know about a great affordable bronzer. Drugstore bronzers seem never work for me.

    • Catherine

I haven’t had tons of luck with them either, but in the past I’d purchase a drugstore pressed powder in a much darker shade than my skintone for an affordable bronzer option. Thanks for your comment, Joanne! ♥

  • TinaBowling

I would love to add this duo to my collection, I have not tried Sleek before!

    • Catherine

I love everything I purchased from Sleek, so I’d definitely recommend the brand! Only downside is paying for shipping. Thanks for your comment, Tina! ♥

  • Sunny @Mostly Sunny

I’m not big on bronzers so I never pay too much attention to them, but I’m glad to hear this works well for you! I have heard great things about Sleek blushes. They’re not available locally though I really can’t complain because I don’t live that far from the UK!

    • Catherine

I have one of their blushes and definitely agree with the great reviews! I hope Sleek expands to more countries soon. There are so many shades and products, being able to see everything in person would make choosing which to purchase easier! ♥

  • L e n a

i rarely use bronzer but the highlighter part looks so so pretty!
i’ve tried a sleek blush and i was very impressed with their quality. i am sure this is amazing as well. ;)

    • Catherine

It really is! I feel like its even a bit of a softer, beiger gold in person than in photos. It adds warmth and light without being too obvious. ♥

  • Becca @ The Beauty Sample

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Sleek’s products–especially their blushes, so I am really curious now! This set looks really great–love that highlighter! The contour/bronzer color looks a little scary but i’m sure it’s workable :P

    • Catherine

There’s a lighter version too, which you may like! The highlight shade is less gold in that, though, more opal. I tend to like darker, less warm powders for contouring… ones that I can use a touch of then blend out. But for more of a sunkissed bronze look, I’d go with a lighter tone :) Let me know if you end up trying Sleek, Becca! ♥

  • nadeen

which chade of bourjois delice de poudre bronzer do you swatch ?

    • Catherine

I got mine in Poland so I can’t actually read it, but I see a number 52, so I’m guessing that’s the shade! ♥

  • Carina

Hi Catherine, I recently came across a blog post that includes an email from Sleek stating that, while they themselves don’t test their products or ingredients on animals, they sell their products in China. Just thought you might like to know!

The post can be found here:

    • Catherine

Hi Carina, thank you SO much for sharing this with me. I’m so appreciative. I’m going to reach out to them for clarification. They may ship to Chinese addresses from their Europe-based shops, which doesn’t necessarily require animal testing (if you haven’t already seen it, Logical Harmony has a great post on this: Or they may actually be registered in China and their products may be tested on animals. I’ll update based on what I find out. Thank you again for bringing this to my attention! ♥

Hi. Bourjois is not cruelty free. It sells in China x
