When Sibu Beauty approached me to send a product for review, I had already heard rave upon rave about the brand. The cornertone of this cruelty-free line is sea buckthorn berry, which contains Omega 3, 6, 9, and the less common Omega-7. While I was interested in the brand, I also had my typical hesitation about new skin care. So many products can cause me break outs and once the acne starts appearing, it can take weeks for my skin to recover. I decided the safest introduction to the brand would be their Sea Buckthorn Balancing Facial Cleanser. Because I’d be washing it off immediately, I figured it would allow me to gauge my skin’s reaction to the Sibu line before venturing into leave-on face creams.
The Sea Buckthorn Balancing Facial Cleanser comes in a sturdy plastic bottle with pump top. The yellow gel-like formula has a pleasant citrus scent that’s not overpowering and dissipates quickly after its rinsed off. It also contains very fine granules that provide gentle exfoliation, which I love. It feels both exfoliating and hydrating.
To my delight, the potential bad reaction never came. If anything, I’ve actually had a couple great skin weeks since I started using the Sibu cleanser. Cause and effect or just coincidence? I can’t say for sure, but I can say it’s definitely warmed me up trying more Sibu skincare.
