QTICA Extending Top Coat

Qtica Zoya Extending Top Coat QTICA Extending Top Coat

As I mentioned in my Zoya Dove review, I’ve been conducting a little experiment with the Qtica/Zoya Extending Top Coat.First, a little background: Generally, nail polish wears fairly well on me. I still tend to use top coats, because I feel they protect against chips and  can give a couple extra days of wear, but I don’t find them totally essential.

So I decided to test how much of a difference top coats really make on my nails. On half my nails (every other nail), I applied this top coat over Zoya Dove. The other half went top coat-free.

The Extending Top Coat promises “5-7 days of chip free polish wear.” The thing is, I got a good six days of chip-free wear on all my nails, whether they had the top coat or not. I do feel like the nails with the top coat kept a “freshly polished” look longer and were the slightest bit glossier. But ultimately it’s hard to say whether wear was extended or not, because Zoya Dove wore so well on its own.

I felt like the brush was extra small and didn’t cover my nails as well at the usual Zoya polish brush, but it worked fine. It would’ve been nice if this contained fast dry properties (Zoya does offer a separate product for this: Half Time Drying Accelerator).

Overall, I’d say this is a pretty standard top coat – no bells and whistles, but it does its job. And sometimes that’s all you need.

OK I am officially very jealous! You can wear nail polish without a top coat for 6 days? Even with a base coat and a top coat, I can barely make mine last for 2 days (but then of course I’m a bit of a housework maniac)! I personally like fast-drying top coats (my favorite is Dior if I haven’t already told you this 200 times), so I might stick to what I have :)

Hi Sunny! Haha I’m not sure why, but honestly if it didn’t last that long. I barely have the patience to apply it now, knowing it’ll last about a week. If it was only two days – well, I don’t think there’s be much hope for nail polish and me ;)

Actually, that is why I stopped bothering with nail polishes for the most part :p

          Ha I don’t blame you, Sunny! ♥

I have to wear a top coat–I can’t get even a day without tip wear and/or chips! I really like my Julep Freedom top coat because it leaves a gel shine.

I love the Julep top coat too!!! :) SO shiny and it dries nice and quick!

Oooh, I’ll really have to try the Julep at some point, then! Except with a select few polishes (like the PixieDusts), I tend to prefer glossy finishes ♥

6 days? Wow! It’s amazing that you can go that long, although Zoya polishes are pretty impressive. It’s interesting that you didn’t notice much difference between the top coat and no top coat. I definitely notice a difference, but then my nails always peel and crack without a top coat. I also like the glosser finish that a top coat gives so I always use one…well the past few years at least. I like that you did this experiment and you went about it in the perfect way! I probably would have done one hand with and one without, which isn’t a great test because one hand ALWAYS chips first! :) Great job and great post!

Hi Christine! I’m not sure why they last like that on me, but I know it is SO annoying to spend time applying polish then have a chip within a couple days. I do have oddly strong/hard nails, so maybe that’s something to do with it. Haha the funny thing is, I actually thought about doing one hand with, one without, but then realized, oh that won’t give the most accurate results. THANK YOU for your sweet comments, they always make me smile ♥
