Not too long ago, you’d be hard-pressed to find organic, paraben-free makeup. And in colors you actually wanted to wear? Forget it.
Nowadays that’s changing, thanks to companies like Lippy Girl Makeup.
I heard about Lippy Girl on Twitter. The more I learned about the company, the more interested I became. Lippy Girl was founded by Darcey Diehl – a mother, vegetarian, and chemist. That’s right – Lippy Girl is formulated by an expert in the chemical sciences. How cool is that?
Lippy Girl is cruelty-free, organic, eco-conscious, and the majority of their products are vegan.
Here is the company’s statement on animal testing and organic ingredients, from the Lippy Girl Makeup website:
After being enticed by the concept and ethics behind the brand and seeing photos of their products, I knew I needed to place an order.
Organic Lipstick in Nudist

The line is called Lippy Girl, so of course I had to try a lipstick. I had the hardest time choosing between the colors, because so many of them looked gorgeous. And I’m pretty particular about colors. I ended up going with Nudist.
Nudist is a medium pink. It reminds me of a slightly more cool toned NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss in Beige. It looks warmer in photos than it does in person. On me, it actually shows up pretty bright and leans almost magenta, so this isn’t a traditional brown-pink nude.
These lipsticks are full of beneficial ingredients, like jojoba oil, grape seed oil, and vitamin E. They apply smoothly and give a glossy finish. Despite the moisturizing properties, Nudist is surprisingly pigmented. You can sheer it out by applying a balm beforehand (which I usually do) or layer it for more intensity.

While the lip products may be the center piece of the line, you do not want to overlook the blushes. I picked out Bitchslap, a bright red. I’m always drawn to baked products, but they usually contain ingredients that make me breakout (Ethylhexyl Palmitate?). Not the case with Lippy Girl blushes. The ingredients list is short and straightforward – and free of any ingredients that bother my skin. Which is good, because I love this blush.

The website calls these sheer, which is interesting because this definitely isn’t sheer in the way you may think. You barely need to dip your brush in it to pick up enough product for both cheeks. But the coverage is very buildable. The first layer gives you a very natural flush of color, but it can be built up for as much pigmentation as you want.
The finish is matte, but to me it seems there’s the slightest sheen. There’s definitely no shimmer or glitter. If the matte spectrum runs from totally flat matte to a step away from glowy, this falls on the latter end.
I’ve been wearing Bitchslap almost daily. I definitely plan to purchase more of these blushes and I hope Darcey keeps adding colors.
The packaging on both the lipstick and blush are plastic, which makes them really light-weight and travel-friendly.
