While you’re perusing the beauty blogosphere, do you keep a mental “must try” list? I know I do – and mine has long included IT Cosmetics. As luck may have it, last week IT sent me their “Hello Beautiful!” kit. This 5-piece collection is a lovely introduction to the brand. It contains three products that IT calls their “hero products”: Heavenly Luxe Airbrush Foundation Brush, Celebration Foundation, and Hello Lashes 5-in-1 Mascara.
It also includes two brand new products: Tightline Full Lash Length Black Mascara Primer and Vitality Flush 4-in-1 Reviver Lip and Cheek Stain Stick. Both are exclusive to this kit.
“Hello Beautiful!” will be featured on QVC on Monday, March 18th. For just one day, it will be available for a special price, announced the day of. Retail value is $155.00.
I’ve never followed QVC, but for this kit, I’d tune in!
“Hello Beautiful!” is offered in 5 foundation shades: Fair, Light, Medium, Tan, or Rich. The foundation I received is labeled Light/Medium, which is equivalent to Light.
Light is a neutral, versatile shade. I have warm undertones so initially I wasn’t sure if this would be too pink. But it blends with my skintone flawlessly. In fact, I could barely even tell where I placed the foundation. It was almost like using an eraser for your face – it simply faded imperfections and evened out my complexion without adding a “makeup-y” look.
Celebration Foundation is full of moisturizing ingredients, providing its cream-like, non-powdery feel. If you have dry skin and long for the ease of a powder foundation – this is one to try.
HEAVENLY LUXE AIRBRUSH FOUNDATION BRUSH
I’d heard about this brush from Liza at Makeup Matters. She loves it and I can see why. It’s extremely soft yet dense – allowing you to buff products into skin without causing any irritation or flakiness. It’s size makes it very multi-functional – big enough for foundation, small enough for blush and bronzer. And of course it’s synthetic, so it’s good for powders, creams, and liquids alike.
TIGHTLINE FULL LASH LENGTH BLACK MASCARA PRIMER
If “mascara primer” brings back memories of chalky white concoctions, fear not – this is something much better. This innovative new release is unlike any product I’ve seen before. The extremely thin, long wand allows you to get right to the root of your lashes. The formula is black like a mascara, but its also full of beneficial ingredients for skin and hair, like Biotin, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, and Olive Oil. It feels very moisturizing and soothing – which is nice considering this goes so close to your eyeballs. The wand is so small that it didn’t trigger the impulse to blink, so coating the roots was easy. I didn’t experience any irritation with this at all.
This is also pretty unbeatable as a mascara for lower lashes. I swear it coated tiny lower lashes I didn’t even realize I had!
IT says you can tightline with this, by gently pressing it against the roots of your lashes. I did this and it does work, though it doesn’t give the same definition as lining with an eyeliner.
HELLO LASHES 5-IN-1 MASCARA
I personally am a big fan of these little spikey balls on mascara brushes (in fact, I just purchased an ELF mascara with a similar shape – review to come). I wore this mascara over the lash primer and someone actually asked if I was wearing false lashes.
After multiple layers of primer and mascara, my lashes did feel sort of “hard”… I’m not sure how to describe it. It’s more super-volume than an airy, fluttery effect. I think the stiffness helped to hold the curl – my lashes stayed curled all day. I also noticed that my lashes looked extremely black. I’m not sure whether it’s from the mascara, primer, or the combination.
VITALITY FLUSH 4-IN-1 REVIVER LIP AND CHEEK STAIN STICK
This lovely multitasker comes in the shade Je Ne Sais Quio. It’s clear in the tube, but turns a sheer bright pink once applied, a la Smashbox O-Glow and Dior Addict Lip Glow.
The formula is beautiful. It’s very lightweight yet feels so moisturizing on my lips. I’m a lip balm fanatic – so I’m pretty picky. This is one of those items that I think most people would enjoy, although I’m not sure whether it would show up as a blush on dark skintones.
On my naturally pigmented lips, this appears a deeper, plush pink. As a blush, it creates a much lighter, subtler glow. Due to its moisturizing texture, it also gives a dewey highlight. I experimented applying it different ways – directly from the tube, from the tube to my cheeks with fingers. My favorite way is to first apply it to the back of my hand, then use the Heavenly Luxe Airbrush Foundation Brush to pick up the color and pat it onto my cheeks. I usually wouldn’t apply a cream/liquid/gel over powder, but with the IT foundation brush, I was able to without disturbing the powder or creating any weird cake-y texture.
IT calls this a stain, but I’m not sure about that. Because it is so moisturizing, I found it faded from my cheeks very quickly. On my lips, it wears the same as any typical lip balm or gloss.
By the way – props to IT for sparing us any “reacts with your unique body chemistry” claims. While I like the pink shade of “color changing” products, the color has nothing to do with your body chemistry and everything to do with the red dye on the ingredients list. You can read more on that at The Beauty Brains.
On my eyes, I’m wearing BECCA Eye Tint in Gilt under a dusting of IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation. I ran Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Crave along the outer 1/3 of my lash line.
IT Cosmetics is PETA-approved cruelty-free.
