Polls indicate a majority of people in the US think it’s OK to test products on animals. But they don’t realize that the majority of testing is frivolous. I mean, if you can put products on the market that don’t require animal testing, then why do you still do it?

Exactly. It’s baffling that companies choose to continue testing despite it being unnecessary or other methods being available. If an ingredient has been shown safe before, why torture more animals to prove it again and again? But since the companies are clearly going to continue testing if no one intervenes, it’s up to consumers to speak up. And you’re so right, there’s a big disconnect between what people perceive animal testing is conducted for and the reality of many of these tests. If more people knew the facts, I have no doubt they’d speak up more. ♥

I just can’t believe that in 2014 we still even think about testing on animals!

Agreed, Moxie! With all the advances in technology, it’s crazy we’re still using animals for cosmetic testing. ♥

Ugh, do I want to read this… I know we need to face reality but I’d rather not know all the details. Stories like that tend to haunt me for the rest of the day, I’m a wuss…
