Flower Beauty REVIEW FLOWER Beauty Nail’d It Nail Lacquer in That’s Just Dan De Lion

As you’ve probably noticed, I’m in a bit of a FLOWER Beauty phase. So, naturally, the blog is too. And, honestly, what better time to experiment with soft pinks than the start of spring?

One of the lovely products FLOWER sent me is their Nail’d It Nail Lacquer in That’s Just Dan-De-Lion.

Flower Beauty NP2 THAT’S JUST DAN DE LION 3 FLOWER Beauty Nail’d It Nail Lacquer in That’s Just Dan De LionThat’s Just Dan-De-Lion (NP2) is a light soft pink with lots of tiny, delicate shimmer. The vast majority of my nail polishes are light pinks or nudes, so this color is very “me.” From a distance, the shimmer isn’t detectable – it just makes you nails look extra perfect and shiny. But up close, you’ll definitely see it. It’s a bit like the shimmer in Zoya Ava.

Flower Beauty Nail Polish Bottle FLOWER Beauty Nail’d It Nail Lacquer in That’s Just Dan De LionThe bottle comes with a square cap, the kind that can usually be removed. The cap didn’t come off easily and I didn’t want to pry it, so I just used it with the square cap. It would’ve been easier without it, but it still worked fine. The formula is lovely and streak-free. That’s Just Dan-De-Lion can be worn sheer with one coat or opaque with two or three. I did one thin coat and one thicker coat, which achieved full coverage.

I painted my nails with this polish on a Friday. I noticed no chipping at all on Wednesday, just space at the cuticle where my nails had grown. By Thursday, I had one chip and one mini-chip. I removed it on Friday because I had so much nail growth, but overall the polish was still going strong.

    subtle

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

It is definitely subtle. As a guy friend said, “I like it, but you have to look closer to see it” haha ♥

      • Icequeen81

hehhe, Is not exactly a shade I will choose, lm more for burgundy’s and dark shades for nail polish and also the shade I mentioned to you before of lipstick black rose. This subtle shade can be very nice for a wedding for the bride, but can be complemented with something maybe a shiny topcoat or a topcoat with gloss and a subtle glitter.

        • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

I’ve been on a nude neutral nails kick forever, I never seem to get tired of them. But I know many people tend to find them a bit boring! I think this would be lovely with a glittery top coat! FLOWER’s formula really is great, so if you see any shades you like, they may be worth picking up. It’s not a huge shade range but there are a few dark ones ♥

          • Icequeen81

Yes, I saw some of the dark shades, But because I’m not in the states, It is a lil bit expensive to get those products,I love neutral on eyes I don’t dare color eye shadow even I just use a lil bit.

            • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Oh yeah, I imagine shipping would get expensive! I go with neutral eye colors too, although I’ve been using a tiny bit more color recently ♥

This is a pretty nude! So jealous it wears for almost a whole week on you! I’d be happy if anything lasts for more than a day (though this is mostly because my nails peel like there’s no tomorrow)!

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Ugh that’s frustrating! Even with base and top coats? If polish didn’t last this long on me, I don’t think I’d have the patience to wear it. I hate painting my nails, especially my right hand. Years and years of wearing nail polish yet my technique never improves haha ♥

      • http://twitter.com/mostlysunnyblog Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Yeah unfortunately my weak, peeling nails are genetic and no nail polish would adhere to them for too long. When they were better (ie before I moved out and have to do the dishes myself LOL) nail polish would stay nice for like 4 days. Now it’s a bit of a dream!

        • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Haha I know dishes are the bane of keeping nail polish looking nice. I hear some people wear gloves which apparently helps (meh, too much effort for me). Eh what can you do – the joys of being an adult haha ;)

          • http://twitter.com/mostlysunnyblog Sunny @Mostly Sunny

When I own my own house a dish washer will be the first thing I purchase. That and a real vanity :p

            • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

OH Sunny you don’t have a dishwasher?! I thought you were talking about just the rinsing and putting-into-the-dishwasher routine. Ah, I lived in an apartment with no dishwasher for a year and that really did kill my nails! ♥

            • http://twitter.com/mostlysunnyblog Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Nope not yet! We’re living in a rented apartment now and we don’t really have the space for it. I really need some gloves ;)

What a fun name they chose for this nail polish :-) The color is very pretty as well.

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

      Love the color too! ♥

  • http://twitter.com/MakeUpGuineaPig Christine

Such a pretty color! Their polishes seem to be surprisingly good! Most of the products are. I only say surprising because I expect very little from a Walmart-exclusive brand from a celebrity. :)

I think Flower puts crack in their products because they really do seem addictive! :) It was all Flower all the time when I first tried the brand, although now I keep forgetting about it. Weird because there are only a few items that I haven’t liked.

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Hahahaha they totally are addictive. In the last year or so, I’ve gotten out of the “must buy every product I see” mode, yet I feel like I’m totally wanting to get more FLOWER. I think because all the products really have been great quality, and produce subtle, sophisticated results, and the fact they are so affordable. I agree with the surprising aspect – I’m a big believer that you can get high quality at affordable prices, but I’m not a big Walmart supporter and celebrity brands usually are so obviously just marketing, it’s silly. But this is without a doubt a very well-edited, well-designed line. I’m not sure that being Walmart-exclusive is the best move for them – I haven’t been in a Walmart in ages, but if these were available in drugstores, I probably would’ve already acquired a few more items. I want to try their other complexion products, their lipsticks, and other shades in their cream shadows…and maybe um their cream blushes too… OK enough! haha ♥

I really like the shimmer in this! My go-to nude nail is OPI’s Bubble Bath, but that’s been a little too flat/milky for my skin lately. I think the shimmer in this will make it much more wearable!

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

I looove OPI Bubble Bath, though actually I like Mimosas for Mr & Mrs a bit more, I feel like it’s a little easier to get more opacity for me. The shimmer definitely gives a not-flat finish, but since it’s so subtle, it’s not at all like shimmer-glitter polish, you know? Still completely sophisticated and office appropriate ♥

        Aw, thanks! You’re too sweet!

        • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

You’re welcome :) I haven’t found a way to comment on blogs without the Name/URL option yet, but I do follow it ♥

          • http://twitter.com/QCPChic Martha

I will have to look at my settings–I think I switched them back up to ‘registered’ but there should be a setting that allows for name/URL. After so long I’m still learning the ins and outs of Blogger!!! Kind of sad :P
