FLOWER Beauty Color Play Crème Eyeshadow in Wild Geranium

Coming off of The National Cherry Blossom Festival, DC is looking extra pink. And thanks to FLOWER Beauty, my makeup has followed suit. When FLOWER sent me the Color Play Crème Eyeshadow in Wild Geranium (CE3), I welcomed the opportunity to incorporate pink into my makeup. It’s a color I don’t often use on my eyes, but that, done right, can have such a fresh, brightening effect.

The eyeshadow comes in a glass jar with a plastic screw cap. When you remove the cap, there’s a plastic stopper, which product sticks to. While the packaging is very pretty, it’s also a bit messy – I would’ve preferred a jar that didn’t require a stopper or a squeeze tube. But it doesn’t get in the way of using the product, so it’s not a big deal to me.

Wild Geranium is a shimmery pinky rose with copper-y tones. It’s not quite what I’d call rose gold, but close. In photos, the copper tones are very apparent, but it’s rosier in person. I was thrilled to have received this shade, as it’s the one I would’ve picked out myself.

This cream shadow has the softest, mousse-like texture. In terms of silkiness, it ranks on par with my beloved BECCA Eye Tint formula. It’s ultra-pigmented yet creamy – as you can see in the comparison swatches below, it’s by far the most saturated.

Here’s Wild Geranium compared to other shimmery pinky cream shadows (and one powder). As always, non-cruelty-free products were purchased either when the brand was cruelty-free or before I went cruelty-free and are included just for comparison’s sake:

I’m wearing Wild Geranium in my About Face Foundation review, so feel free to check that out to see how it looks on.

Wild Geranium lasts all day on me, though I do have slight creasing around the 6 or 7 hour mark. It fades a bit throughout the day, but almost everything does on me. I actually like that it’s not super lasting, because I think it allows it to remain somewhat dewey-looking.

Overall, this is what I’d call an exemplary cream shadow. I’d love to see FLOWER come out with some satin and matte finishes in this formula.

Glad to see it lasts fine! My biggest concern with any cream/hybrid product is the lasting power. Wild Geranium is gorgeous, and I think it’s something that would work beautifully on your skin tone <3

Thanks so much, Sunny! It isn’t crazy long-wearing the way that say, the UD 27/4 pencil shadows are, but definitely does last well, on par with MAC paint pots for me. I want to experiment with how it lasts under a powder and/or over a primer – so far, I’ve just be using it for a quick wash of color on its own. ♥

This looks really good! I love the colour. It’s great for a wash all over the lid :-)

Hi Lily! It really is so pretty and easy to apply. I’m loving creams for spring/summer, especially when I’m going to be out in the bright sunlight (which seems to make any powder products look super visible). Wish it were more widely available, though ♥

    That’s a very pretty color!

Isn’t it? I feel like it would work on many skintones. Thanks for your comment, Martha! ♥

Oh wow that’s pigmented! Seems like an awesome budget buy, I’m currently intrigued :-)

Hi Taylor! I was really surprised by the pigmentation, too… especially because all the products in the comparison swatches are very pigmented themselves. The formula is really unlike anything else I’ve tried! ♥

Oooh that looks so light and fluffy and pigmented–pretty! I don’t usually shop at Walmart but I am so curious about this line–just might have to make a stop this weekend and check it out for myself :)

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Hi Becca! Yeah, I don’t usually shop at Walmart either, there isn’t one nearby and honestly I’m not the biggest fan of the corporation anyway. I’m hoping FLOWER gets stocked more places soon ♥

I find the stopper a weird piece of packaging. :) I’m guessing it may help prevent it from drying out, but really don’t know why it’s there. It just makes it messy. I agree tho – the shadow is great! It’s so soft and mousse-like. And it comes in so many beautiful colors! :)

Yeah, it’s strange, like the packaging design isn’t finished. Meh. I really want them to come out with mattes and satins in neutral colors, I will purchase them in a heartbeat. The formula is sooooo beautiful, it feels like an eye cream. Have you picked up any new shades since your last FLOWER post?♥
