Eye-Catching Products of Summer 2013

 1. RMS “Un”-Coverup

“Un”-Coverup came on my radar after I read a review by Taylor at My Lucite Dreams. I’m a big fan of makeup with skincare benefits, I think it’s the way of the future.  RMS creates all their products using organic, natural ingredients – and it’s not just marketing hype. The ingredients list of “Un”-Coverup reads like a skincare product, with the inclusion of nourishing oils and cocoa butter.

RMS Animal Testing Policy

RMS does not test products or ingredients on animals and does not allow others to test on their behalf. They are not carried in mainland China. Their products are available in Hong Kong, which does not share mainland China’s animal testing laws and does not require products animal testing.

2. JOSIE MARAN Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelèe

Another product that caught my eye via beauty blog, I saw the Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelèe’s in Christine of Makeup Guinea Pig’s May Favorites and Top 5 Summer Products posts. You can also check out her in-depth review here. The name of this product alone is enough to entice me – it just sounds beautiful. Described as a cream-gel hybrid, it’s designed to provide color and hydration. All the shades in the small but well-edited color range are lovely and wearable (pictured: Tangerine).

3. HOURGLASS Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation

Hourglass is one of those brands I’m always meaning to try more products from. The Liquid Powder Foundation promises a “long-lasting, velvet-matte finish.” While I’m usually partial to slightly glowy foundations, this crazy hot summer weather has my skin so oily – but I prefer to keep powder to a minimum. Could a foundation with oil-absorbing properties be the answer?

4. BARE MINERALS The Power of Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette

Since Bare Minerals released their new pressed formula, its received many rave reviews. I’ve been waiting for the right palette to try it out. Given my penchant for nudes and neutrals, The Power of Neutrals seems like it may be just that. Plus, Temptalia’s “A” rating didn’t hurt.

5. FLOWER Beauty Petite Fleur

I noticed this on the FLOWER Beauty website and was intrigued. The Petite Fleurs are essentially three shades in one. There are Petite Fleurs for concealer, shadow, and lips. I’m particularly interested in the concealer version, as I love using different shades of base-makeup for natural looking shading and contouring.

The Power of Neutrals looks promising! I’ve been waiting for fall collections to finally roll out here, but so far not so much luck! Hopefully soon though!

Hi Sunny! I actually wouldn’t mind if they’d be released later here – it always seems so out of place mid-summer ♥

  • TracyBeautyReflections

That Hourglass Foundation is MADE for oily skin girl! I tested it and it’s way too drying for me-you should get a sample at Sephora and try it! I love Hourglass!

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Hey Tracy! Yeah, I’ll get a sample first… oddly, my skin can get really dry in some areas, while oily in others, so it may be drying for me too. I’ll just have to test it. But I love Hourglass too! ♥

Oooh, I want to try that foundation! I wonder if they make a shade light enough for me.

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Hi Phyrra! Hourglass seems to do a pretty good job with their shade ranges, so hopefully! ♥

Thanks for the link love sweetie. I looove the RMS, it’s a great concealer and I also love it as a foundation. I love makeup with skin benefits and totally agree and hope that it will be a way of the future. Natural beauty keeps getting better and better. The JM blush is beautiful, it dries to a gorgeous stain. Hoping the foundation works well! Xxoo

Hi Taylor, you’re welcome! All RMS products look intriguing to me, I’m really looking forward to trying the brand out. I’m glad the JM blush worked well for you! x ♥

  • Memoiselle

oOOh look at the Josie Maran Gelèe and that Bare Mineral eyeshadow palette! You are making me wanna try those products so bad!

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Haha I know, so pretty aren’t they? ♥

  • Lily

The ‘un’cover up is a must have. I’ve read pretty good stuff about the Hourglass foundation too. If you’re getting it, I’d love to read what you think :-)

    • http://buyingcrueltyfree.com/ Catherine

Hi Lily! Glad to hear the RMS uncoverup works for you, I’m really looking forward to trying it! Soon, soon ♥

  • Christine

Thanks for the links! :) I’m intrigued by RMS products too. I have a Lip2Cheek, but keep forgetting to test it! I need to start a “products to use” pile or something. :) I really like the Hourglass Foundation. It doesn’t completely control oil all day for me, but it does an admirable job for quite a while. I definitely don’t need powder right after applying it, but will touch-up a couple times throughout the day. It doesn’t look unnaturally matte either and it’s really comfortable! Wonderful picks as always!!! :)

You’re so welcome :) Ooh I’m glad to hear you the Hourglass foundation works for you! the Lip2Cheek products look really good, I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it! ♥

Me too, all the items I’ve tried from JM, I’ve liked ♥

Flower Cosmetics finally has a display at a Walmart near where I live but I have yet to try anything from them but the Petit Fleurs do sound pretty intriguing. I really love the JM Gelee in “Poppy Paradise”…defintiely a must-try if you can.

Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier!

Hi Jillian! My pleasure, back at ya :) I’ll definitely look at Poppy Paradise… all the gelee colors are gorgeous, really. ♥
