I recently won Logical Harmony’s Ellovi Butter giveaway. Before winning, I had seen Tashina’s Butter review and made a mental note of it. When it comes to body moisturizers, for me – the more hydrating, the better. I love rich body butters and oils and slather them on most days after showering. I’m also a big supporter of small businesses, so I was thrilled when I won this. It’s something I would’ve purchased on my own.
A little background on Ellovi from Kelly and Ryan, the brand’s creators:
“I’m passionate about creating beauty products, beginning with the product in this very package. It’s made from the most pure and nutritional ingredients in the world – plants. Every ingredient comes straight from nature. I promise that Ellovi products will never contain synthetic chemicals, fillers, preservatives, or secret ingredients.”
Butter is Ellovi’s first product, but they plan to release a full line of natural products.
How often do you see an ingredients list and actually recognize everything on it? With Butter, you know exactly what’s going onto your skin. Short and sweet, the ingredients list contains only five items. Some of the ingredients are staples in my skincare routine, like coconut oil and shea butter (my DIY whipped body butter recipe). Others, like macadamia seed and hemp oils, I haven’t used before, so I was particularly interested to see the effect these ingredients had on my skin.
In the jar, Butter has a soft, semi-solid consistency that melts into your skin when applied. If you’ve ever used coconut oil, it’s a similar feel. The ingredients list is nearly all oils or butters, so there is an expected oily feel when first applied, but it absorbs quickly. You’re getting substantial hydration, but without feeling greasy for 10 minutes afterwards. The moisturizing effect lasts, too. Hours after applying, my skin still felt soft and nourished.
As you can see, there are no added fragrances, so Butter just smells like its ingredients. I can smell the shea butter, but it’s light. The packaging is lovely – a substantial frosted glass jar.
If you’re looking for deep hydration that goes beyond your typical body lotion and contains only natural ingredients, I don’t think you can go wrong with Ellovi Butter.
