Eco Tools Deluxe Fan Brush

When Eco Tools released their new brushes recently, I ended up ordering almost all of them. One that I’m particularly excited about is this Deluxe Fan Brush Eco Tools Deluxe Fan Brush.

Unlike other fan brushes I’ve used, this one has multiple layers of bristles. The bristles are tapered in length, with the longest bristles in the center, similar to a kabuki. As with all Eco Tools brushes, the bristles are incredibly soft. I’ve tried many different brands known for their soft brushes, but Eco Tools remains the softest.

What does this brush work for? I’d say nearly any powder product that you want a light, diffused application of. The possibilities are really endless. I’ve tested it with face powder, bronzer (a light application just on the high points of my face), powder highlighter, and blush. Eco Tools also suggests angling the brush to contour cheekbones.

This may be my new HG blush brush. Maybe it’s my face shape, but I’ve always found blush most flattering when kept relatively high along the cheekbone. With this brush, I pick up product with the top, middle bristles, so the sides are kept product-free. Then I apply it on the apples of my cheeks and back along the top of my cheekbones. The clean sides of the brush diffuse edges. Essentially, this brush applies and blends in one step.

At this point, I have only washed this once, but there was zero shedding. None of my Eco Tools brushes have had trouble with shedding (I’ve had some for years), so I think it’s safe to assume this brush will probably hold up well. But if it doesn’t, I will update here.

The case has a snap closure and could be used to store the brush for travel. The bronze-y ferrule is made of recycled aluminum and the handle is bamboo.

I admit, I had high expectations for this brush and I’m happy to say it lives up to them. If you’re looking for a cruelty-free fan brush, I absolutely recommend this. Even if you usually purchase higher end brushes, I think Eco Tools is really worth a try.

I loooove Eco Tools and was so excited when I heard they were coming out with new ones! This fan brush looks great…and so do all the others. I just may have to do what you did and buy them all!! :P Can’t wait to see your other reviews, Catherine! :)

Aww thanks, Becca! I love Eco Tools, too… the more higher end brushes I try, the more I appreciate them, especially given their prices. Most of the new ones are great, but there are a couple brushes in the sets that don’t seem up to the usual quality. ♥

I might really have to look into this because there are some very pigmented blushes I’d like to try, but a regular blush brush might make me end up looking like a clown! So glad to hear you like it! I also place my blush high on my cheekbones as well. Now I’m just going to go into “I need a fan brush” mode ;)

I looove it. I have a mini duo fiber one from Laura Mercier – which is what I use when I want the lightest, subtlest application with super pigmented blushes. This isn’t quite as subtle, because it’s much denser (also much larger), but you can still get a very light application and it’s more multi-functional… I really recommend it, if you’re able to get your hands on it ♥

Thanks so much for your comment, Tashina! I really think it’s a great fan brush, at any price point, but especially for $7… hopefully it’ll be in stores soon so you can check it out before purchasing if you want ♥

This looks AMAZING. I have one from Beauty is Life, but I wish I’d seen this first! I love these giant fan brushes for contouring, they fit my face perfectly!

Ooh, I haven’t heard of Beauty is Life… I’m loving these fan brushes too, they can make even the brightest, most pigmented blush look diffused and natural :D Thanks for your comment! ♥

I love Eco Tools brushes but I’m not sure I really know how to use this one!

I’m going to try to make a post showing exactly how I use it for blush… it’s a little hard to describe in words, but it works SO well. If only I could figure out this whole “take photos of yourself” thing… ♥

I like the idea of this brush. I would use it as a highlighter. I like that Eco Tools is coming out with more variety. It’s definitely hard to find brushes that are totally cruelty free. If you do find a line from a company, they usually tout it as “vegan, synthetic, blah, blah” meanwhile the rest of their products are not cruelty-free. That bothers me.
