DR. BRONNER’S Pure-Castile Soap

Dr Bronners Magic Castile Hand Soap DR. BRONNER’S Pure Castile Soap

I hadn’t planned on reviewing this, but since I filled my soap dispensers with Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Soap,  nearly everyone who has used it has mentioned how much they like it. I’ve never heard so many unsolicited comments about a hand soap!

I have the Lavender scent and it is absolutely lovely. The scent lingers longer than other soaps I’ve used, which could be a good or bad thing, depending on your preferences.

Because it’s a castile soap, it’s extremely gentle on your skin. It’s free of drying and irritating detergents. Rather, it just contains oils and Lavender extract.

Oh and you probably noticed the label. It’s covered in all sorts of musings about world peace and unifying humanity on Spaceship Earth (I’m not making this up). It’s just about as “out there” as L’Oreal’s labels claiming their anti-aging cream can change your DNA.  Regardless, no need to read the fine print. It’s good, basic soap.

I’ve heard the original version is really good for washing makeup brushes and I’m curious. I definitely need a new brush cleanser as I just ran out of my Sonia Kashuk one!

Ohhh that’s a great idea, since it’s mostly all oils… I usually mix in some jojoba or other type of oil with the soap when I wash my makeup brushes, it really breaks down makeup well. I have a ton of brushes to wash. I’ll try this soap and let you know how it works! ♥

One of my favourite products ever. I find it leaves my makeup brushes a little too squeaky clean without lifting all the colour off the bristles, but I love it as a body wash. I’ve used the Rose, Tea Tree, Lavender and Baby versions, and I love them ALL. I’ve also used this as a clarifying shampoo, but make sure you take the time to rinse it all out. Learned that one the hard way!

Thanks for sharing this – I hadn’t even thought of using it for makeup brushes until you guys mentioned it! I absolutely am trying this next time I wash my brushes. Ooh I want to try the other scents as well. Does it work well as a clarifying shampoo? ♥

It takes a long time to wash out of your hair, but once it’s out your hair feels SERIOUSLY clean — almost too much? I wouldn’t use it full strength on my hair, I’d have to mix with a tiny bit of conditioner so it doesn’t completely strip my scalp.

I just tried washing my brushes with it. It got the makeup out very easily but OH MY GOSH you’re right, it’s impossible to rinse this stuff out it! I didn’t even use that much, maybe two tablespoons mixed with water for about 10 brushes. I spent literally 15 minutes rinsing one of the brushes and I swear it’s still lathering. If I use this again, I’ll definitely mix it with baby shampoo and use the tiniest drop ♥

Right??? It just won’t stop lathering! When I first started doing laundry with it (just handwashing), it took forever because I completely overestimated how much I would need.

This stuff is the Energizer Bunny of soap suds! The first time I used it on my brushes it took what felt like forever to wash it out again. I like it, but oh my goodness! Makes me feel better that I’m not the only one who has underestimated its lathering power though. :)

Haha! It really is. It does remove makeup really well though, but next time – I’m using the TINIEST drop. ♥

haha I read that Dr. Bronner saw his products as his means to spread the word about his life philosophies, via the labels :)
